A majestic band at a majestic venue!
In a world full of pop, R&B, rap, and electronic music we needed to go back to the roots of rock in America and what better way to do it with the legendary band Chicago!
It was at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio where thousands of fans gathered last night to enjoy a magical night full of nothing but great timeless songs with a band that has been on stages around the world for more than 55 years.
They are one of the most successful and influential groups in the history of American music, with over 100 million records sold worldwide and we couldn’t miss the opportunity to see them live in our town.
SINCE 1969 ON TOUR
The band came out on stage at 7:33 PM to a loud crowd that was anxiously waiting for them. They were there, a band that has been constantly on tour since their debut album in 1969 in front of us while the notes of song “Introduction” started to sound.
Throughout the years the band’s alineation has been changing, but it was great to see some of the original members on stage, such as keyboardist/vocalist Robert Lamm, trumpeter/vocalist Lee Loughnane, and trombonist James Pankow together with other incredible musicians that conform the band today.
From covers to legendaries!
They have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. They have also won multiple Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards.
They originally called themselves The Big Thing, and played mostly cover songs of popular artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Beach Boys. They soon realized that they wanted to create their own original music, and added a horn section to their lineup. This gave them a unique edge over other rock bands at the time, who mostly relied on guitars and keyboards.
With time the band who started playing covers was now writing spectacular songs such as “If You Leave Me Now,” “Saturday In The Park”, “Hard to Say I’m Sorry,” “You’re the Inspiration” and “Colour My World”.
The evening continued in such an incredible way with a band giving their hearts on stage, an audience that never stopped singing along to every song and the atmosphere inside the venue was just magical.
Chicago is still going strong today, after more than 55 years of making music together. They are one of the longest-running and best-selling groups of all time, with no signs of slowing down or stopping anytime soon. They have performed over 10,000 concerts in front of millions of fans around the world so it was really an honor for us to see them playing live and hearing those songs that have been part of so many generations.
Chicago is more than just a band. They are a legacy. A legend. A phenomenon. They are Chicago.
