The legend still rocking at 75 years old!
Before kicking off his “Freaks on Parade” with Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper delivered a timeless performance for generations of fans at The Tobin Center, in San Antonio, Texas!
Over the summer, Cooper and his band have not only been touring on their “Too Close for Comfort Tour,” but also with Def Leppard and Motley Crue on their world tour. The performance last night marked his last solo show before going on the road with Zombie for a while. With a career spanning over 5 decades, his shows have impacted thousands, if not millions of fans worldwide.
At first thought, The Tobin Center seemed like an unexpected venue for a rock concert, however, Alice Cooper left the crowd mind-blown. There were people who have been dedicated fans for decades and there were even children dressed up in eyeliner and top hats.
The creativity behind the lighting, set, and transitions between songs was so powerful and flawlessly went together really embracing the theatrical elements that he is known for. The moment Cooper’s shadow appeared, fans eagerly waited for him to step in front of a giant newspaper open up with “Lock Me Up.”
The spotlight wasn’t just on Alice Cooper though, his bandmates had time to shine and the crowd went just as crazy for them as well. Chuck Garric was on the bass, Ryan Roxie, Tommy Henriksen, and Nita Strauss all played guitar, and Glen Sobel had a jaw-dropping drum solo halfway through the show! Everyone’s talent was out of this world and it’s one of those things you wish you wish you could relive seeing for the first time repeatedly.
Despite the concert only lasting an hour and fifteen minutes, it honestly felt like time transcended during the performance. There was an abundance of twists and turns during the show that kept fans on their toes waiting to see what would happen next on stage. There were many memorable moments including Alice Cooper singing his classic hit, “Snakebite,” with a real-life snake draped over his shoulders.
