Two incredible artists under one roof!
As if it wasn’t enough with Texas heat, Logic and Juicy J brought up the heat to the Moody Center last night in Austin.
Logic is currently touring with his “College Park Tour“, a series of events that tells the story of Logic from his very beginning’s recording from his friend’s basement up until writing some of the most popular hits of the genre.
We couldn’t miss this show and headed to the live music capital of the world.
JUICY J
Our night started with Juicy J, an american rapper and founding member of Three 6 Mafia.
Juicy J came out with a straitjacket and a mask similar to the one that Hannibal Lecter’s from Silence of the Lambs. Juicy asked the crowd to make a safe moshpit where everyone could have fun but also take care of each other.
The rapper played non-stop for about 45 minutes and after his set was done, Logic’s crew started setting up the stage for the main act.
LOGIC
A couple of couches, a bookshelf, a few posters of Kill Bill, Star Wars and Wutang were part of the scenery of Logic’s College Park stage setup.
Once the stage was fully in place, Logic’s DJ started the night by playing some of Logic’s hits from his new and old stuff to warm up the crowd.
After playing a few snippets, Logic came down the stairs in a red robe. He said Hi to the audience and said that he didn’t want anyone to sleep because it was time to “Wake up”.
That being said, his set started with “Wake Up” from College Park, his latest album, and it was followed by “Lightsabers” from the same album. He made a small pause to explain the stage setup, which was a representation of the basement where he stayed with his friend and where he started his career as a musician.
Before continuing with the set, Logic mentioned that because this tour represented his whole musical career he was going to play a few songs from each of his albums.
And he delivered as promised. While the set consisted of more songs from “The Incredible True Story”, he did play songs from his whole catalog.
Reach out for help!
The main takeaway from his show without a doubt was to spread “Peace, Love, and Positiveness”. He mentioned how music has taken him to meet so many amazing people that have been there for him and invited the audience to acknowledge the people that surrounded them and to appreciate the people who have been there regardless of circumstances.
Another wholesome moment that we experienced was after his hit song “1-800-273-8255”. He said he truly appreciates this song since this was the one that really put the spotlight on his work. He also was very thankful that of all the songs that he was in his repertoire, the one that talks about mental health and encourages people to reach out for help was the one that really made an impact on his audience.
Looking back to the whole night, it was a great one full of beats, freestyle, an amazing audience, and a lot of touching moments that we won’t forget soon. Both artists gave an incredible performance that allowed the crowd to interact and really feel a connection with them. This is truly a show that you wouldn’t like to miss. Logic has a few other dates throughout the US so make sure to catch him in a show near you!
