Darkness and brightness under the same roof!

Depeche Mode came back to Texas last night and luckily for us, their first stop after five years of not having live shows was in San Antonio!

It was at the AT&T Center where Dave Gahan and Martin L. Gore decided to kick off their new Memento Mori Tour on this side of the country and of course, we couldn’t miss it.

And for more than 2 hours, the audience that gathered at the AT&T Center enjoyed so many of the famous hits and others not so much, which made the night more special to all the hardcore fans who never thought they were going to hear those songs live, us included!

MEMENTO MORI

As part of the promotional tour of their latest album which has the same name as the tour, the band opened the evening with new songs “My Cosmos Is Mine” and “Wagging Tongue“, followed by some classics “Walking In My Shoes“, “It’s Not Good“, “Sister Of Night“, and “In Your Room“.

The crowd was frantic to see Dave and Martin performing in front of us the songs that have been part of the lives of so many of us.

The evening continued combining songs from the early days of the band and new ones, such as “Everything Counts” from 1983 followed by “Precious” and “Speake To Me” from their latest album. They were really taking us on a trip through the 15th studio albums the band has.

A healthy band!

As the night continued, it was great to see a band that looked healthy and really enjoying what they were doing. Dave never stopped walking around the stage and dancing doing his provocative moves that had the whole crowd going excited. Martin, jumping from keyboards to different guitars and singing was amazing as well. And, with Christian Eigner on drums and Peter Gordeno on keyboards, the band sounded incredible!

Life without Andy Fletcher

It was inevitable not to think about the 3rd member of the band, Andy Fletcher who passed away almost a year ago.

But, as Martin once mentioned, “we decided to continue as we’re sure this is what he would have wanted, and that has really given the project an extra level of meaning.”

With “World In My Eyes“, the band dedicates a special moment to Fletch.

It was almost 10 PM when Depeche Mode played “Enjoy The Silence” to go backstage to take a small break but just to return with that last punch of strength to finally captivate old and new fans of the band.

Lights came down again and Dave and Martin walked to the end of the catwalk to sing “Waiting For The Night“. A special moment that was sealed with a warm hug.

And just like everything in life that has to come to an end, the band played the last three songs, “Just Can’t Get Enough“, “Never Let Me Down“, and “Personal Jesus” to conclude this magical evening.

Did we see you last night?

We always enjoy approaching fans during concerts to talk about what they’re expecting of the show or past experiences during old concerts, but last night was very special because of the fashion look of that 80s/Goth era we were seeing all around.

Thanks to the people who kindly smiled to our camera!
