Crushing Riffs and Raw Emotion inside the venue

The highly anticipated Architects’ North American tour roared into San Antonio, Texas, delivering a night of crushing energy and pure metalcore magic at The Aztec Theatre last night. Fans packed the venue, buzzing with excitement to witness not only the headlining performance but also the killer opening sets from Brutus and We Came As Romans. The lineup promised an explosive night of powerful vocals, heavy breakdowns, and intense emotions, and that’s exactly what Texas got.

From the first note to the last, the show was a non-stop ride through melodic and hard-hitting soundscapes. Architects brought their signature mix of precision and raw emotion, while the opening acts set the stage perfectly, creating an unforgettable night of live music.

BRUTUS

Belgium’s Brutus kicked off the night with a performance that was nothing short of mesmerizing. Combining elements of post-hardcore, punk, and metal, they captivated the audience with their atmospheric soundscapes and the impressive drumming and vocals of Stefanie Mannaerts.

The band’s unique style, blending aggression with moments of haunting melody, immediately drew the crowd in. Tracks like “War” and “What Have We Done” showcased their ability to create tension and release, taking the audience on an emotional journey. The intensity of Mannaerts’ vocals paired with her powerful drumming was a standout, as the band skillfully transitioned between moments of raw fury and reflective calm. Brutus set the bar high for the evening, and their performance left a lasting impression, proving they’re a force to be reckoned with in the post-hardcore scene.

WE CAME AS ROMANS

The night’s second act, We Came As Romans, brought the energy to the next level with their electrifying set. The Michigan metalcore veterans knew exactly how to get the crowd moving, and from the moment they hit the stage, the audience erupted into mosh pits and fist-pumping enthusiasm. Opening with the explosive “Darkbloom,” the band’s performance was filled with emotion and power as they ripped through fan-favorites like “Cold Like War” and “Hope.”

Vocalist Dave Stephens’ clean and unclean vocals were delivered with seamless intensity, keeping the energy high throughout the set. The band’s chemistry on stage was undeniable, with guitarists Joshua Moore and Low Cotton plus bassist Andy Glass and drummer David Puckett engaging the crowd at every turn, hyping up the fans and feeding off their energy. Their performance was a perfect blend of aggression and heart, with the emotional weight of the lyrics resonating deeply.

When Architects finally took the stage, the energy in the room reached its peak. The British metalcore giants opened with “Seeing Red,” immediately setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable performance. Sam Carter’s commanding vocals were flawless, effortlessly switching between harsh screams and soaring cleans. The band’s tight musicianship shone through in every track, with guitarists Josh Middleton and Adam Christianson delivering crushing riffs and melodic leads, while drummer Dan Searle’s precision and power drove the intensity forward.

The setlist featured a perfect mix of old favorites like “These Colours Don’t Run” and tracks from their full discography, keeping both longtime fans and newcomers on their toes. The crowd erupted during “Doomsday,” with the entire venue screaming along to the chorus, creating a unifying moment of pure adrenaline. Architects’ ability to blend aggression with melody was on full display, and their atmospheric lighting and stage setup only added to the immersive experience. Architects’ North American Tour stop in San Antonio was an unforgettable night that left fans exhilarated.
