The "Gary" UK Tour delivers a mix of fan favorites and new hits to an excited crowd.
This past Thursday, November 7th, Blossoms took the stage at the Portsmouth Guildhall, marking the 16th show of their ambitious 26-date “Gary” UK tour. The tour, which began following the release of their latest album “Gary” on September 20th, is set to conclude with a five-night series in Manchester, each performance at a different venue.
The evening commenced at 8 PM with a lively set by Red Rum Club, a Liverpool-based band formed in 2016. Their setlist, featuring eight of their most popular tracks, warmed up the crowd with an energy that prepared the audience for the main act.
After Red Rum Club’s performance, the anticipation built as a curated playlist of songs influenced by Blossoms filled the venue. Tracks by artists such as ABBA, David Bowie, The Courteeners, and Oasis created an atmosphere that bridged the gap between the opener and the main act.
BLOSSOMS
At 9:00 PM, Blossoms took the stage, launching their set with their usual opener, “Your Girlfriend.” The audience’s response was instant, a testament to the band’s growing popularity. Songs from their latest album, including “Perfect Me,” “I Like Your Look,” and the eponymous “Gary,” were met with enthusiastic cheers, seamlessly blending into their established repertoire as if they’d been fan favorites for years.
Longtime supporters were thrilled to hear crowd-pleasers like “I Can’t Stand It,” “Getaway,” “Honey Sweet,” and “At Most a Kiss,” solidifying the band’s reputation for delivering a great show. Blossoms, known for their relatively short sets, wrapped up their main performance after about an hour, only to return for a four-song encore that featured “Gary,” “My Favourite Room,” “There’s a Reason Why,” and closed the night with their classic hit “Charlemagne.”
The Guildhall was packed, its audience a diverse mix ranging from teenagers to attendees in their 50s, showcasing Blossoms’ broad appeal. On stage, the band was joined by two additional percussionists and an extra guitarist, augmenting their signature sound.
Blossoms’ lineup included Tom Ogden on vocals, Charlie Salt on bass, Joe Donovan on drums, Myles Kellock on keyboards, and Josh Dewhurst on guitar.
