Morrissey’s return to the stage had been eagerly awaited, and he did not disappoint, delivering a powerhouse performance with signature charisma and passion.

The evening started with a variety of videos that we most assume Morrissey selected. From “Search And Destroy” by Iggy & The Stooges, “Everybody Loves U: (Winnerlove)” by Sigue Sigue Sputnik, to “Motorbike Beat” by The Revillos, and “She’s The One” by Ramones. After 40 mins of videos, it was showtime!

His set list was packed with fan favorites, powerful vocals, and the unmistakable style that has defined his career. MORRISSEY

From the moment Morrissey stepped onstage at 9:10 PM, the night was charged with intensity. The crowd greeted him with deafening applause, and he responded with a smile before diving into his first song, “Sure Enough, the Telephone Rings” instantly setting the tone for a night filled with passion and artistry. Opening with a mix of timeless solo hits like “You’re the One for Me, Fatty,” and “Alma Matters,” and The Smiths’ classics, “Shoplifters of the World Unite,” and “How Soon Is Now?” Morrissey took the audience on an emotional journey, performing with the same energy and conviction that have solidified his legacy.

Each track was met with cheers, but when he sang songs like “Life Is A Pigsty” not played since 2019, and “Everyday Is Like Sunday,” the atmosphere reached new heights, with fans singing along word for word.

Classic Hits Revitalized with the Energy of New Band Members

The set design was simple but effective, letting Morrissey’s presence command the stage as he moved with his distinct style. His voice, rich with emotion and depth, resonated throughout the venue, reminding everyone why his music has endured. Morrissey’s banter between songs revealed his humor and warmth, drawing laughter and applause. A highlight of the night came when he performed “Dear God Please Help Me,” song he hasn’t played since 2007, catching fans by surprise and adding a special touch to the performance.

Morrissey’s new band lineup brought fresh energy and chemistry to his Halloween night tour kick-off in Houston. Matt Walker’s drumming laid a powerful foundation, while Camila Grey’s skillful work on the keyboards added a rich, atmospheric touch. Juan Galeano’s bass lines were spot-on, driving the set’s rhythm with precision, and Carmen Vandenberg on guitar brought a unique, electrifying edge that resonated with fans. Jesse Tobias, from San Antonio,  rounded out the group on guitar, adding depth and melody with every riff. Together, this talented ensemble enhanced Morrissey’s iconic sound, delivering a captivating experience that set an exciting tone for the tour.

By the time Morrissey closed out his set with “First Of The Gang To Die”, the audience was on their feet, cheering for an encore that delivered just as powerfully as the opening. Houston’s kick-off night was a stellar start, proving that Morrissey’s music and presence remain as electrifying as ever.
