Future Islands took Austin, Texas by storm in an unforgettable night of music, soul, and raw emotion. The crowd buzzed with excitement as fans filled the ACL Live at The Moody Theater, eagerly anticipating a performance that promised to be full of energy and heartfelt intensity.

Opening for Future Islands was the rising indie band Oh, Rose, setting the stage with their own unique blend of alternative rock. The contrast between Oh, Rose’s dreamy soundscapes and Future Islands’ signature synth-pop style created a magical balance for the evening. From start to finish, the night was a showcase of passion, vulnerability, and electric performances.

Whether it was longtime fans singing every lyric or newcomers discovering these powerful acts for the first time, everyone in attendance felt the connection. Both bands gave their all, making it a night of music that would be remembered by everyone who was there.

OH, ROSE

Oh, Rose opened the night with an ethereal, emotionally charged set that captivated the Austin crowd from the first note. Frontwoman Olivia Rose’s hauntingly beautiful voice echoed through the venue, immediately grabbing the audience’s attention. Her raw emotional energy was palpable, weaving through the songs with a delicate intensity. Oh, Rose’s blend of soft, dreamy instrumentals combined with moments of grunge-like heaviness made for an unforgettable performance. Tracks like “It Take Time,” “Body,” and “Toilet Water” showcased the band’s versatility, transitioning smoothly between softer, introspective moments and full-throttle rock.

Olivia Rose’s vocal delivery, in particular, was mesmerizing, pulling the audience into her world of vulnerability and power. The crowd swayed and danced along, caught up in the atmospheric beauty of each song. Oh, Rose left a lasting impression, proving they are a force to be reckoned with in the indie rock scene. Their set was the perfect lead-in to Future Islands, warming up the crowd with their evocative sound and heartfelt performance.

FUTURE ISLANDS

When Future Islands hit the stage, the energy in the room shifted to pure electricity. The band launched into their set with their signature blend of synth-pop and indie rock, and the crowd was instantly hooked. Frontman Samuel T. Herring’s powerful stage presence was on full display, with his deep, soulful voice and passionate movements captivating the audience. Herring’s intensity—whether growling, crooning, or dancing wildly across the stage—made each song feel like an emotional journey. The band performed crowd favorites like “King Of Sweden,” “The Tower,” and “A Dream Of You And Me” sending the audience into a frenzy of sing-alongs and cheers.

Herring’s heartfelt connection to the audience was clear. Between songs, he expressed gratitude to the fans for their support over the years, and his vulnerability added an extra layer of depth to the performance. The band’s musicianship was flawless, with bassist William Cashion, keyboardist Gerrit Welmers, and drummer Michael Lowry providing the driving rhythms and atmospheric layers that define Future Islands’ sound.

The performance of ” Seasons (Waiting On You)” was a particular highlight, with Herring pouring every ounce of emotion into his delivery, leaving the crowd breathless. Future Islands’ set was a masterclass in blending powerful lyricism with infectious beats, and they left everything on the stage. The crowd was entranced from beginning to end, soaking up every note and every movement.
