The legendary band returns with a sure hit!

After a worldwide pandemic, special shows, international tours, and many other things, Rubén Albarrán, Emmanuel “Meme” Del Real, Joselo and Enrique “Quique” Rangel of Café Tacvba are finally back!

The new song, “La Bas(e),” is their first release after a seven-year hiatus, and marks a triumphant return to the music scene. The track combines their signature eclectic style with fresh elements that highlight the band’s evolution over the years.

The song was written by guitarist Joselo Rangel, who loves rock and roll and always wanted to create a song with that style, something with an urban rock vibe. By incorporating parts of the speeches Rubén Albarrán gives on stage when they perform outside of México, he created this song as a celebration or gift to all the immigrants working outside their country. The band’s distinctive sound, characterized by Rubén Albarrán’s unique vocals, remains a central feature, but there’s a noticeable maturity in their musical approach that resonates with both longtime fans and new listeners.

La Bas(e), was produced by their long-time collaborator and friend Gustavo Santaolalla, but also includes a collaboration by Ruben’s son Yantra. It intricates melodies and dynamic rhythms, which create an immersive auditory experience. “La Bas(e)” is not just a song but a statement, reflecting the band’s journey and the socio-political landscape they’ve navigated during their time away from the studio.
