The wait is finally over and for all the fans of this iconic car, the car company has revealed how their Alpha5 fully electric car will be!
With gullwing doors and Tesla speed, this new model maintains some details of its old brother, the DMC-12, but with a more futuristic look.
Some of the specifications published so far mention a 100kW battery, similar to Tesla’s Model S that gives an estimated 0-60mps time of 2.99 secs. A milage range of 300 and a limited speed of 155 mph.
The Future Is Here!
Designed by Italian design house Italdesign, the new DeLorean Alpha5 measures 4995mm long, 2044mm long and 1370mm tall. The inside of the car shows a sleek look, with 2 touchscreen displays and buttons.
“The Alpha5 is a representation of the past 40 years of DeLorean,” Troy Beetz, Chief Marketing Officer of DeLorean Motor Company, said. “There was this enormous responsibility to make sure we honored the history of the DeLorean brand, but an even greater responsibility in curating its future…I think we did both with the Alpha5.”
Still the company hasn’t announced when will the car be available to purchase, but they are inviting interested people to register in their website for future updates.
Designed and manufactured by John DeLorean’s company DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) from 1981 until 1983 for the American market the company sold about 9000 cars before they went bankrupt.
